Hope Happenings

Parent Teacher Conferences are next week! Here are some important details to note before Conferences:

‍

• Please arrive 5-10 minutes early to allow time to check-in and walk to your conference
• Upper School students are required to come to the conference, and it is optional for Lower School students
• For students who are coming, uniforms are not required
• Please park in the ramp and enter through the main entrance
• There is NO SCHOOL during conferences
• Conferences are November 25-26th and are a required parent covenant event

There will be NO SCHOOL Monday, November 25th- Friday, November 29th due to Parent Teacher Conferences and Thanksgiving Break. Enjoy your time off!

Youth Basketball Registration is now closed and teams are being formed. You will get an email from your athlete's coach with more details in the next few weeks. We are hoping some practices can start in December, but they are dependent on securing coaches. The season starts in January. If you would like to coach/help out or have any questions, please email Heather Timm. heathertimm@hopeschool.org

Christmas programs will be here before you know it! The Hope Academy Christmas Program dates are:

• Tuesday, December 10th at 7pm - 3rd-5th grade program
• Thursday, December 12th at 7pm - Upper School program
• Tuesday, December 17th at 3pm - Kindgarten-2nd grade program

Please note: The Upper School program is made of Upper School choir & music production scholars only. Space is limited and we are prioritizing parents that have students in the program. Thank you!

On Thursday, November 21st, there will be a High School Shadow Day for 8th graders outside of Hope interested in attending Hope Academy. At this event, prospective students will be able to come to Hope for a half day and attend classes with a current high school student. If you know of someone in 8th grade at another school that could be interested in coming, please forward the flyer below!

Do you know of a Hope family with children that is struggling with various challenges and searching for housing? If so, promptly go to the Normandalehouse.org website, click the "looking for housing" section, and fill out the short prequalification form.

Desiree Emanuel is the Normandale House Program Director and a community partner to Hope Academy. Desiree is in search for a working Hope Academy family that is in need of temporary housing. The family is able to secure a 1-year transitional program that will house a family in a 3-bedroom unit. The tenant pays only 30% of their income. Gas, electric, and internet will be provided to the family. A care team and Desiree will be assigned to work with the family to help remove the barriers they are facing.

Mom's Bible Study:
The Women's Bible Study is held every Wednesday 10:00 am-12:00 pm. Contact Katie Steck at 612-655-6279 for more information!

Join other Hope Academy Dads at our Men of Hope Monthly huddles! The next meeting is Saturday, December 7th 10:30am-12:00 pm. Fathers and students are welcome!

Ministerio De Mujeres Hope:

Latino Father's Bible Study:

Join the Latino Father's Bible Study on the first Tuesday of every month at 6:30 pm.

Hope Academy is updating our computer system in the library and it will have some exciting new features such as the ability to search and reserve books from home. To bring our system up to date, we need to do some data entry, and we need your help! If you have computer skills, can type carefully, and enjoy accuracy, this job is for you. A basic background check is required because students may be in the room while you're working. See the Sign Up Genius for more information and to sign up for a volunteer spot. Kindergarten parents: Join us for monthly parent groups! These required groups will meet once a month for an hour at Hope Academy (virtual option also available). Classes are led by Dr. Darrell Gillespie and cover topics like sibling rivalry, tough conversations, community building and much more! A Spanish speaking option led by Ms. Reyes and Mr. Franklin will be available soon!

Sign-up below for the time slot that works best for you to join each month (virtual, evening, or during the day). They will go from October - May. These are required monthly meetings for parents of Kindergarten students. Students do not need to attend. One or both parents may attend the sessions. Register below!

As we start a new school year, please read below for some reminders about absences and early releases:

‍‍

• Mark any absences in the SchoolPass app by 10 am. It's important to report your child's absence so that you don't receive a text message indicating their absence.
• You can mark absences in advance if needed.
• All changes to dismissal plans need to be made in the app by 3:00 pm.
• There are no early releases after 3:30 pm daily.
• Students will only be called from class when their parent/guardian is at school for them. Please plan an extra 10 minutes into your schedule so we have time to locate your student and send them to the office.

Be sure to mark any absences, tardies, or end of day transportation changes for your kids in the SchoolPass app! We appreciate your partnership! Refer to the video below for more information.

The NEW Hope Academy High School building is now open! As a result, our main entrance and office will be moving to this location. This means that Hope Academy now has 3 different entrances and there are some drop off changes. Below is a list of each entrance and what each should be used for.

‍

New Main Entrance (24th St): Use this entrance for school events, late drop offs and after school care pickup.

‍

Chicago Ave Entrance: This entrance is for bus drop off ONLY. There is no longer any entry through this door other than busing.

‍

Peavey Doors (22nd St.): This is the entrance for parent Drop off and Pick up (including before school care). Access this door by heading north on Park Ave. and take a right on E. 22nd St.

‍

To receive Hope Academy text notifications, opt-in by texting “Yes” to 67587. (We will also need to have that phone # on file that you are opting in from). Make sure you’re not missing important communication!
