Vision for the position: The Math Instructional Coach will play a vital role in strengthening and aligning math instruction across grade levels, with a primary focus on K–5 while collaborating closely with the 6–12 math team and principals. This role exists to ensure students are deeply grounded in math foundations, well-prepared for secondary coursework, and taught in a way that cultivates order, wonder, and a love for truth. The Math Coach will serve as a bridge-builder across divisions, supporting teachers through coaching, curriculum alignment, and data-informed decision-making within our Christ-centered and classical framework. As the school’s math champion, this individual will inspire excellence in math teaching and learning, promote joyful rigor, and help develop a shared vision for what flourishing in mathematics looks like across K–12.

Reporting Structure: This position reports to the Lower School Assistant Principal and works in close collaboration with the Chief Academic Officer, Upper School Principals, and 6–12 math faculty.

Job Details

  • K–5 Instructional Coaching & Teacher Support: Provide regular, classroom-embedded coaching and feedback to K–5 math teachers; model effective lessons and support teachers in implementing best practices in instruction and differentiation.
  • Vertical Alignment & Collaboration (K–12): Collaborate with Upper School principals and 6–12 math teachers to ensure curricular and instructional alignment across divisions. Identify gaps and opportunities to improve readiness for middle and high school math.
  • Curriculum Planning & Implementation: Support consistent and faithful implementation of the Lower School math curriculum while working to ensure it aligns with middle and high school expectations. Guide pacing, unit development, and adjustments as needed.
  • Professional Development & Learning Communities: Facilitate learning cycles, lesson studies, and other professional development for K–5 teachers. When appropriate, partner with 6–12 math faculty for cross-divisional development opportunities or vertical teams.
  • Data-Informed Instruction: Support teachers in interpreting assessment data, identifying trends, and making instructional decisions that improve student achievement and readiness.
  • Spiritual and Relational Investment: Shepherd and encourage teachers through a ministry-minded approach to coaching; build strong, trusting relationships and contribute to a joyful, united faculty culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience, with expertise in elementary or secondary math.
  • Demonstrated understanding of math content and pedagogy across the K–12 continuum.
  • Experience with instructional coaching or teacher leadership strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively across departments.

  • Hourly rate is $30-$40 per hour.
